The Object of this project:
The
original TOIREASA’S DREAM was to buy Julia and Tess a computer system.
Conceived in January 2002.
First of all: The Staff who
though of the Project:
Swan (Italian Cat),
Sunshcat, Talis, Bandercat, Jenkustrap and myself (Rumblepurr)
What was the Project?
To
provide Julia and Toireasa with a Home Computer System so that they could
communicate with CATS fans and their friends form their home through Internet
and E-Mail.
What was the Computer?
The
chosen system is a GATEWAY 300X 1.3 GHz Tower with a 40 Gb Hard Drive, CDRW and
DVD ROM drives, MS Windows XP operating system, MS Works (WORD & Encarta),
an 15” LCD Flat Display, 56K PCI Voice modem (1 year AOL included), 1 Year
service, a Hewlett-Package Deskjet 940Cse Printer, an Epson 1250 scanner, in-house installation and Norton’s
Anti-Virus software. TOTAL PRICE of this system is about $1,706.65.
WHY GATEWAY?
After looking at various
machines of equal or similar nature, GATEWAY had the best package for the style
of machine that Julia needs. Plus – a brand name has service stores all across
the country – the closest to Julia is in Wilmington, Delaware. There is a
warranty on the computer that is backed by a company and service packages are
available...
WHY NOT
USE “MAKE A WISH” FOUNDATION or OTHER CHARITY?
Toireasa has already
been given a wish and saw a Broadway production. The other reason is simple: This
gift will be from CATS Fans to another CATS fan. Let this be a gesture to
show that we value each other…
OUR GOAL:
To
achieve our goal, we wanted to raise at least $1,500 US to purchase the system
and installation – BY FEBRUARY 5, 2002. The store in Wilmington, Delaware will
be contacted, the computer built and delivered ASAP afterwards. On January 19,
2002, I launched this website and announced it on the CATS FORUM. Soon
afterwards, the donations came in. By February 4, 2002, we had enough funds to
by the computer, a printer and the scanner. Julia was notified and a tentative
date of February 15, 2002 was set for installation. The computer system arrived
at Julia’s house on February 13, 2002. On February 15, 2002, Toireasa logged
her first message on the Forum. Thanks to the donations of CATS Fans and
Friends, our Goal was reached, and Julia and Toireasa now have their computer.

GROUP PARTICIPATION Check out this: Lady Swan, a CATS fan from Italy, got a group of fans and friends together for their donation. All together, these wonderful people listed here collected 644 Euros throughout Italy. Lady Swan thought it might be nice to let you see this, and I thought it was great.
